Member of the Turkish Republic Parliament from the Justice and Development Party Harun Karaca visited Eastern Mediterranean University and received information about the university.
Karaca first visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak in his office with EMU graduate Aydın Keskin, who is currently the advisor to the members of the parliament in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Among notable names who were also present during the visit were Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman Yılmaz, Vice Rector for International and Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Majid Hashemipour, Vice Rector for Promotion and Development Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Informatics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Uyguroğlu, Business and Economics Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora, Health Sciences Faculty Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Barış Öztürk and Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici.
During the visit, Karaca thanked EMU Rector’s Office for their hospitality. Karaca also expressed his happiness in TRNC’s being mentioned as “An Island of Universities and Education”.
Following Harun Karaca, Rector of EMU Prof. Dr. Öztoprak provided detailed information about EMU. Prof. Dr. Öztoprak stated that the expected student population during the new academic year is 18,500 and added that the university is expecting between 2,500 and 3000 students from Turkey. Stressing the fact that students from more than 90 countries receive education in EMU, Prof. Dr. Öztoprak expressed his happiness in providing services in a fully international university which has proven itself at the international arena with its international accreditations and memberships.
After Prof. Dr. Öztoprak , Vice Rector for Academic Affairs provided information about the academic structure of EMU. At the end of his visit to the Rector’s Office, Harun Karaca took a campus tour and had a chance to receive detailed information about buildings and faculties on the campus. As part of the visit, Karaca also visited mayor of Famagusta and the president of EMU Board of Trustees İsmail Arter in his office at Famagusta Municipality.
