“Mobile Game Programmimg” Workshop Carried Out at EMU for High School Students

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering carried out the first laboratory workshop of 2024-2025 Academic Year with the participation of Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School (BEAL) students. 17 high school students attended the workshop titled “Mobile Game Programming”. The 3-hour event was carried out by Emre Rifat Yılmaz, Mahmut Sevince and Tansel Sarıhan.

Computer teachers from Beal; Meltem Yağlı, Duygu Akarsu and Aygün Şehsüvaroğlu and, Assistant Principal Hacer Çobanoğlu accompanied the students participating who had the opportunity to explore the basics of programming by engaging in application development processes with modern programming languages.

In the said event, Assistant Head of the EMU Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ünveren provided the high school students information regarding the Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and Artificial Engineering programs available within the body of the faculty. It was highlighted that the Computer Engineering and Software Engineering programs are internationally recognized through accreditation by the American organization ABET, and that there are plans to seek accreditation for the newly established Artificial Intelligence program in the future.

During the certificate ceremony held after the laboratory workshop, Assistant Head Assist. Prof. Dr. Ünveren presented certificates to the participants, underscoring that the EMU Department of Computer Engineering is determined to maintain its efforts to carry out similar laboratory activities with other schools, driven by a sense of social responsibility.
