Gundem Kibris internet media site in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social Media Unit have organized a survey to measure the habits of social media users and their habits. In a statement that EMU social media unit coordinator Raziye Nevzat released, she explained that the survey is a preliminary study and that a more comprehensive survey will be resealed in the coming future. The survey results are as follows;
Participants have been separated into 5 categories, which are under 18, 18-25, 25-40, 40-55 and over 55. The largest contributor to the survey ways ages 25 to 40. 59% of participants were between the ages of 25-40, 27% between 18-25, 11% between 40-55 and the last 1% under 18 and over 55. 61%of participants were male and the other 39% were female. According to the study, people shared photos (43%), news (38%), videos(7%) and lastly, locations (4%). 8% of the Participants stated that they would share other posts unrelated to the above categories. 95% of the participants use Facebook, 49% of the participants use Twitter, 45% of the participants use Instagram and 26% use location based social networking sites.
Nevzat stated that social media usage is very high in North Cyprus and put forth that the Unit will continue to provide a more detailed survey in the coming future.
