Education

In the junior and senior years students are given the opportunity to specialize in either Applied Economics or International and Development Economics. They may also take a combination of courses leading to a general B.Sc. degree in economics. The programs offered by the Department provide students with the necessary educational foundation for career options in the business world, or for continuing their studies at graduate level in economics or in a related discipline.

The B.Sc. degree is conferred upon completion of 41 courses or 125 credits in 4 years. Each academic year consists of two full semesters and a summer semester. As most courses are offered each semester, including the summer semester, a student who studies for more than two semesters per year should be able to complete their undergraduate program in less than four years. As the University has undergone a restructuring process in its curriculum in the 2005-2006 academic year the new students will be subject to the new curriculum which is also presented below.

Career Opportunities

Graduates have a wide area of employment opportunities. Their knowledge and skills in economics as well as their good command of English and computer applications, as well as familiarity with global issues opens up employment opportunities in international organizations, multinational companies and public services and in private businesses.
