Eastern Mediterranean University, Architecture Faculty, Interior Architecture Department was awarded the accreditation certificate of Agency for Quality Assurance (AQAS) in a ceremony which took place at Twin Churches in Famagusta Old City. On the same day, the department also honored successful students of the 2013-2014 Academic Year Spring Semester with honor and high honor certificates.
With the obtainment of the AQAS accreditation for a period of 5 years, EMU Department of Interior Architecture has become the sole and leading institution to hold accreditation as such both in Turkey and Cyprus. Through AQAS accreditation, the department has certified the quality assurance of the high quality education provided within the department as well as the international validity of the degrees awarded.
AQAS representative Ronny Heintz, who was present at the certificate ceremony, stated that the decision to award AQAS accreditation has been taken following a comprehensive evaluation involving multiple perspectives and factors such as the curricula, academic staff, students, resources, and institutional structure.
During the same ceremony, a total of 52 students received honor and high honor certificates from Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan, Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Şebnem Hoşkara, academic staff member Prof. Dr. Dağlı and other faculty members.
During her address at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoşkara stated that the accreditation has been a positive development for Interior Architecture Department. Putting forth that the aforesaid accreditation is the first international accreditation obtained, Prof. Dr. Hoşkara stated that the faculty will pursue similar achievements as such. Following Prof. Dr. Hoşkara, Prof. Dr. Dağlı extended her gratitute and appreciation to all those who contributed to the accreditation process. Stating that the accreditation process for Turkish-medium Interior Architecture has also been initiated, Prof. Dr. Dağlı congratulated all students who received honor and high honor certificates.
The ceremony ended with a concert by EMU Education Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department academic staff member and chorus conductor Erkan Dağlı and pianist/music instructor Özkan Boyacıoğlu.
