Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture – Turkish and English Programs, once again got the Agency for Quality Assurance Accreditation (AQAS) with pride. Having completed the five-year accreditation period in November 2019 which was obtained in 2014 by AQAS, a German-based institution, EMU Interior Architecture Department was re-audited by AQAS, and this time received the accreditation for six years, until 2026.
EMU Department of Interior Architecture is the only holder in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and the first Interior Architecture Department in Turkey to obtain the said accreditation. With the accreditation, granted to EMU Interior Architecture Department for the next six years, valid until 2026, EMU has certified its education and diploma quality guarantee, and international recognition once more. Interior Architecture Department Chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Öngül, stated that the certificate ceremony planned to be held last April was postponed to a later date due to the pandemic, and that the accreditation certificate was delivered online to the department. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öngül thanked the EMU Rector's Office, Faculty of Architecture, and especially the Interior Architecture Department faculty members, academicians, assistants, students and everyone who contributed during the accreditation process.
