Targeted towards the residents of the SOS Children’s Village, a New Year’s Party organised by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty took place at EMU Beach Club under the sponsorship of AFIK group for the 13th time.
Participated by 140 people, the event started with Group Frequency’s musical performance. Then, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç presented a plaque of appreciation to AFIK group manager Özkan Karaağaç and SOS Children's Village Director Ahmet Akarsu . Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç also thanked all EMU students who undertook duties during the organisation.
SOS Children's Village Director Ahmet Akarsu also presented a certificate of appreciation to AFIK group and EMU Tourism Faculty. AFIK representatiive Özkan Özçınar expressed his appreciation for these events that took place with the joint efforts of AFIK and EMU and wished that organisations as such would continue to take place during the upcoming years.
The colorful organisation hosted dance shows from the Black Sea region, Cypriot folklore, crazy clowns dance show, mini club, rum sum sum, and dance performances, and Santa Claus shows. The children were also given surprise gifts. During the event where intercultural interaction was also prioritised, students from Urfa region presented local delicacies including ‘çiğ köfte’ to participating children.
Children of SOS Village also participated in dance performances and sang songs during the party.
