Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Continuing Education Center (CEC) held a certification ceremony for the participants of in-service trainings given in 2018. The participants were from TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Information Office, Turkish Cypriot Dairy Industry Organisation and Committee of Missing Persons in Cyprus. The participants were presented their certificates at a ceremony held on January 29th 2019, Tuesday (15:00) at Nicosia Armenian Church (Notre Dame de Tyre) where some EMU graduate courses are also given.
During his speech at the certification ceremony, EMU-CEC Vice-President and Board Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Korhan emphasised that it is important for EMU to extend its boundaries beyond Famagusta and that education should not be limited with the walls of the campus. Assoc. Prof. Korhan stated that EMU-CEC aims to reflect the impact of its training programs upon the entire society and that EMU-CEC will maintain its mission under this scope. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Korhan also emphasised on the fact that EMU-CEC is the only organisation in TRNC that is a member of the Council of Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centers and the European University Continuing Education Network.
Turkish Cypriot Dairy Industry Organisation personnel were given a 30 hour Word and Excel (chosen topics) Course by Expert Yeşim Kapsıl Çırak and Expert Özlem Görkan Evre; and the Committee of Missing Persons in Cyprus personnel were offered a 24 hour ‘Geographical Information Systems’ Course by Academic Member Kamyar Fuladlu. Also, TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Information Office personnel were given 3-hour ‘Efficient Communication Skills’ Course by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Türksoy, ‘Persuasion and Perception Management’ Course by Expert Şevket Serkan Şen, and ‘Press Language Use’ Course by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy. A total of 37 personnel have gained the right to receive certificates at the end of these trainings.
