Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is currently undergoing inspections of the world renowned IQ Net member Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 10002:2014 Student Satisfaction Management System. Under the guidance of the EMU Total Quality Management Center which is in charge of setting up management systems, implementaiton, revision, propulsion, giving reports to top management and inspection coordination, the inspections commenced with an opening meeting that took place at the EMU Rector’s Office Senate Hall on Tuesday, the 29th of May 2018 at 10:00.
The said meeting was attended by EMU Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, TSE TRNC President Kemal Kızıltan, TSE Lead Auditor Mehmet Ali Göksel, EMU Total Quality Management Center Director Hasan Kavaz, Educator and Consultant Latif Sakar as well as quality unit representatives.
Speaking at the opening meeting TSE Lead Auditor Mehmet Ali Göksel stated that he has worked in every unit of TSE since 2001 and that he has been principal investigator and lead auditor since 2014. Underlining that he is happy to be at EMU, Göksel wished everyone good luck for the inspections. In a speech of his own, Prof. Dr. Tanova stated that EMU has valued quality since its foundation as an Advanced Technology Institute in 1979. Prof. Dr. Tanova indicated that it is because EMU greatly values external auditing and accreditation that the university has managed to obtain important international accreditations and feature on world rankings. After obtaining ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 10002:2014 certificates Prof. Dr. Tanova noted that EMU will be re-evaluated this year in order to obtain ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 10002:2014 certificates. Underlining that their next goal is to be evaluated in terms of occupational health and safety Prof. Dr. Tanova thanked everybody for their hard work and attention paid to meeting high standards.
TSE TRNC President Kemal Kızıltan stated that their aim is to further increase quality which is already high, indicating that for a period of three days they will be organizing site visits to all units of EMU. The result of the inspections will be announced after these visits and group meetings.
TSE representatives will hold meetings with unit managers and carry out inspection on documentation between the the 29th and 31st of May. The said representatives will also conduct field trips with the purpose of observing the functioning and operations of each unit within the university. The inspection period will end with an evaluation and closing presentation at the EMU Rector’s Office Senate Hall on Thursday, the 31st of May 2018 at 15:30. Following the TSE inspection, EMU hopes to gain ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 10002:2014 Student Satisfaction Management System certificates which have recognition in 36 countries.
