Within the framework of the community service course they are taking, students of Eastern Mediterranean University Education Faculty Computer and Instructional Services Department are organising voluntary visits to schools to specify and cater for their needs.
Following their visit to Famagusta Special Education School, students contributed to the development of an automation system in a short period of 3 months. As part of the automation system developed by students Adil Çelik and Mert Melih Buğrul, the aforesaid school now has no problems with file classification. student registration and categorisation based on specified criteria, archiving and viewing procedures. Additionally, another student named Sercan Canalp improved the technological infrastructure of the school by installing special software catering for the children’s needs on school’s computers.
Extending his gratitude towards Eastern Mediterranean University, principal of the Famagusta Special Education School Emirali Evcimen stated that the system integrated to their school connects them to technology and the world. Evcimen also presented a certificate of appreciation to course instructor İldeniz Özverir.
As part of the project, students Burak Hakkı Bakırcı, Lütfullah Uğurer and Can Caesar Delluller delivered computer courses for the 4th and 5th grade students at Rauf Raif Denktaş Elementary School. Course instructor Özverir stated that the university aims to integrate community services to students lives as a lifelong habit.
