Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering Students’ Club (IE-CLUB) successfully performed ESITEM’s (European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management) TIMES Analysis competition. ESITEM is the world’s largest students’ union of Industrial/Management Engineering.
ESITEM has 80 member Industrial Engineering Students’ Clubs representing over 60.000 students from 31 European countries. EMU Industrial Engineering Students’ Club is the only member club of the island in ESITEM, including South Cyprus.
TIMES (Tournament in Management and Engineering Skills) Case Study Competition allows the Industrial and Management Engineering students face the hardships of working life and aims to provide them with experience on possible problems they may face, the projects they will be involved in and crises they may have to manage.
The competition jury were Industrial Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adham Mackieh, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sahand Daneshvar and lecturer Mahmut Kunter. 6 groups (of 4 people) generally including undergraduate Industrial Engineering and Management Engineering students competed. Despite a challenging choice among several successful presentations, the winners of the competition were Mohamed Salah M. Almagbari, Ismail Mwasha, Ahmed Khaled Abouelhassan ve Çağan Zorlu as a team. According to the information provided by EMU Department of Industrial Engineering Chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İzbırak, the winning team will represent EMU in Germany under the name of ‘ESITEM Local Group Famagusta’ between January 16th and 22nd, 2019
The involvement and diligence of the EMU Industrial Engineers Students’ Club members were appreciated both by the students and the members of the jury.
