Chair of the Eastern Mediterranean University, Architecture Faculty, Interior Architecture Department Prof. Dr. Uğur Ulaş Dağlı attended 6th National Graduate Programs Communication/Interaction Platform and 10th Interior Architecture Department Chairs Meeting, two important events organised by Karadeniz Technical University, Architecture Faculty, Architecture Department.
Stating that the common understanding at the 10th Interior Architecture Department Chairs Meeting was the development of strategies targeted towards problems in vocational education and sectoral conditions, Prof. Dr. Dağlı added that the participants expressed their joint wish for reaching the professional quality in the field. In this respect, the moto of the meeting which was specified as KAIZEN was based on Japanese philosophy drawn from the Japanese word kai which means "change" and zen meaning "improvement".
Providing further information on the said meeting, Prof. Dr. Dağlı stated that the foundation for these meetings which are targeted towards the graduate programs in the field of Interior Architecture was laid in 2013 through the joint efforts of the Eastern Mediterranean University and TOBB Economy and Technology University. In this respect, the said meeting has become the most important and only platform within the field carrying out work on the communication/interaction amongst the interior architecture departments both within the TRNC and Turkey. Prof. Dr. Dağlı also put forth that regardless of the university hosting the meeting, the event is regularly leaded by the Eastern Mediterranean University and TOBB Economy and Technology University.
In addition to the presentations, the 6th National Graduate Programs Communication and Interaction Platform also featured workshops providing valuable information on graduate education.
During the Interior Architecture Department Chairs Meeting, Prof. Dr. Dağlı delivered a presentation on accreditation projects. On the second day of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Dağlı, provided information on the initiative of the establishment of a local accrediation body evaluating the quality of undergraduate education in the field. The said initiative was presented through the joint collaboration and efforts of EMU and Istanbul Technical University.
Prof. Dr. Dağlı finally stated that both meetings carry great value regarding the advancement of both the profession and education of Interior Architecture.
