Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center in collaboration with EMU Tourism Faculty Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department will be offering workshops providing information on the preparation and presentation of different meals. At the end of the course, participants will be awarded “Amateur Chef Certificates”.
EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that the workshops prepared in collaboration with EMU-CEC will take place at EMU Tourism Faculty Demo 2 Kitchen between 6:00 p.m. and 9 p.m. Since the number of participants in each group will be limited to 10, registration will be on first come first serve basis.
Adding that the university will be supplying the uniforms, equipment and ingredients. Prof. Dr. Kılıç put forth that participants will receive a certificate. Upon the completion 4 courses consisting of 12 hours, participants will be awarded “Amateur Chef Certificates”.
The courses will be delivered by the following prominent staff members: GOURMAND Award winner who have cookbooks published in 5 languages Chef Ömür Akkor, Chef Academy Ankara Culinary School staff member and chef in famous Divan Hotels Ali Açıkgül, Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduate and postgraduate degree holder, City & Guilds Culinary Arts program graduate, EMU Tourism Faculty Gastronomy and Culinary Arts academic staff member Kurtuluş Özbaşar, City & Guilds Culinary Arts postgraduate degree holder, İstanbul International Gastronomy Contest bronze medal holder Master Chef Pembe Yılmaz, City & Guilds patisserie and confectionery degree holder and gold medal winner expert Chef Pınar Barut and EMU Beach Club Cuisine Chef Osman Parlak. Dean Prof. Dr. Kılıç put forth that the series of workshops will focus on Italian, French, Far East, Japanese, Spanish, Mexican and American cuisines as well as cake. pastry and bread making.
