Eastern Mediterranean University, Community Involvement Center introduced another meaningful social responsibility project. Within the framework of the project taking place as part of the course entitled “Campaign” delivered under the coordinatorship of EMU Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, senior year students Ebru Özoğul, Doğuş Arslan, Burcu Akyol, Mustafa Taşar and Rabve Agan organised an emergency drill at EMU 2 dormitories under the slogan of “Be Aware of Danger Before It Happens”. The 3-hour event also hosted the active participation of EMU Search and Rescue Club, EMU Security Affairs Unit and Civil Defense Department.
A day before the drill, students residing in the said dormitories were informed about the organisation, which commenced with an informatory session on things to be done during a fire. Then, the actual emergency drill started with the activation of the fire alarm. During the drill, students were evacuated from the dormitory and those playing the role of injured received first aid in an ambulance provided by EMU Health Center. At the end of the organisation, the fire was put off by the members of EMU Search and Rescue Club and Civil Defense Department.
At the end of the drill, students took group photos and thanked all participating units for their sensitivity towards the well-being of students.
