2005 graduate of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department Serdar Altunok is continuing his professional flight career as an İzmir based Second Pilot for the airline Sun Express.
After graduating from EMU, Altunok stated that he worked at a number of tourism agencies in Antalya until 2010, in different roles including Operations Director. In 2010, he started receiving pilotage education at the ER-AH Flight School. He continued his education at the same school for approximately three years also acting as a Marketing Director.
Noting that he has been working as a second pilot at the airline SunExpress since 2014, Altunok also stated that he has been acting as İzmir Chief Pilot Assistant and Cockpit Social Platform Coordinator since February 2016. Noting that he will be captain pilot in two years, Altunok stated that he aims to participate in the ‘Aerial Transportation Management’ postgraduate program run by the Turkish Airlines Academy and İstanbul Technical University in association with University of Massachusetts, Cranfield University and Boeing with the goal of becoming a flight operations manager.
Altunok pointed out that during his studies in EMU he undertook an active role in the Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Communication Club. He stated that he also worked at the Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate for approximately a year. Highlighting the important role EMU played in his career, Altunok stated “EMU played the most important part in my path towards achieving my career goals”. Highlighting that being a part of EMU is a privilege, Altunok concluded by calling the EMU campus magnificent and noting that one can continuously develop themselves and gain confidence that will help in post-university career as a result of the quality international education provided at EMU.
