Students of Eastern Mediterranean University Communication Faculty Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department are exhibiting their work entitled “Varosha – The Ghost City” produced in collaboration with the students of Robert Morris University Media Arts Department in the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial .
The exhibition which is the outcome of the initiative of EMU Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu and Vice Chair Prof. Dr. Fırat Tüzünkan who settled a collaboration agreement with Robert Morris University during their stay in Pittsburgh, USA in September, will be open for public between 1 November and 14 December.
Featuring over 60 pieces of work from numerous institutions in more than 30 countries including Oslo Architecture and Design School from Norway, Graz University from Austria, Oregon University and Yale University from the USA, the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial will be hosted by Kadir Has University Architecture and Design Faculty. The main exhibition venue of the Biennial will be Galata Private Greek Elementary School while the exhibitions to be displayed under the Academy Program will take place at Tophane – Karaköy route.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan delivered presentations and workshops during their stay in Pittsburgh and opened an exhibition in Robert Morris University featuring works of the students of EMU Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan stated that the collaboration with Robert Morris University is not limited to both institutions’ participation in İstanbul Design Biennial as the two institutions also signed a collaboration agreement involving student and academic staff exchange. Within the framework of the aforesaid collaboration, two academicians from Robert Morris Üniversitesi will be taking part in academic activities at EMU during the upcoming month.
