Champions of the “Basketball Cup of Nations” tournament, traditionally organized every year by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Sports Affairs Directorate, have been announced after the final matches played at the Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center. In the women's final match, the Republic of Turkey defeated the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with a score of 21-20 and became the champion. In the men's final match, Nigeria won the championship by defeating the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus 22-20. In the third place matches, Uganda defeated Iran with a score of 12-6 in the women's matches and won the third place, while the Republic of Turkey, which defeated Congo 12-8 in the men's, came third in the men’s category.
Awards Presented to Players
Zeynep Gül Tan has been selected as the top scorer in female players and the most valuable female player of the tournament. The top scorer of the tournament in men’s category has become Coşkun Cumaoğulları, and the most valuable player has been named as Isiaka Saliu. The most gentleman women's team of the tournament was Uganda, while the most gentleman men's team has been named as Congo. Nigeria won the award for the community that supported their team the most. Santina Lara McMillan in the women's Free Throw Contest, Obed Wajikila Mwamba in the men's Free Throw Contest, Zeynep Gül Tan in the women's Three Points Contest, Emre Baycan in the men's Three Points Contest, Sari Aljoulani in Slam Dunk Contest have been announced as winners.
After the matches, winning teams and successful sportsplayers have been presented awards by Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu and Sports Affairs Directorate staff.
