Prof. Dr. Mintaze Kerem Gunel, lecturer at Hacettepe University, gave a presentation titled “Advancement in Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Methods”. The presentation was part of the 4th International Career Week taking place at Eastern Mediterranean University. Prof. Dr. Mintaze Kerem Gunel participated in the Career Week after receiving an invitation from Faculty of Health Sciences, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department.
During her presentation, Prof. Dr. Mitaze Kerem Gunel stressed the fact that students finishing their undergraduate degrees should go on to specialise in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Noting that the Faculty of Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation provides expertise about cerebral palsy, precarious babies, mental issues, birth related injuries, genetic, metabolic and neurological problems, Prof. Dr. Mitaze Kerem Gunel stated that the child should be evaluated and tracked in an all-inclusive manner.
Prof. Dr. Gunel went on to say that scanning shouldn’t only be carried out on babies who are ill but also on healthy babies and children, in order to identify children with the possibility of deflecting off the normal growth patterns. She also noted that such scanning would increase public awareness, whilst underlining the importance of follow-up programs in the field of rehabilitation. The conference ended with the Dean of the EMU Health Sciences Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoc presenting Prof. Dr. Gunel with a plaque of appreciation.
