Within the framework of the 4th International Career Week, Eastern Mediterranean University Communication and Media Studies Faculty hosted journalist Hikmet Durgun, who delivered a seminar entitled “Journalism in Conflict Areas”.
During the seminar, Durgun presented information on war journalism and added that it requires voluntarines. Putting forth that journalists working at warzones should be unbiased and calm, Durgun stated that during the recent years, the number of unbiased and independent journalists has decreased dramatically.
“A Photo May Stop a War”
Durgun also added that one of the most important duties of journalists at warzones is to show the world the bitterness of war as well as the destruction caused by it. Durgun stated that sometimes a photo may be sufficient to stop war.
The seminar finished with the screening of photos taken at warzones and a question answer session.
